Subscribing to a channel you like lets you see more of its content. You can find the Subscribe button under a YouTube video or on the channel page. After you subscribe, new videos from the channel appear in your subscription feed.
You can also get notified when a subscribed channel posts new content. By default, you only receive notifications about the channel's highlights. Learn more about managing notifications.
Subscribe to a channel
- Sign in to YouTube on your computer.
- Go to a video from the channel you want to subscribe to.
- Click Subscribe in the video player.
After you subscribe, YouTube shows a list of recommended channels. The list is built from related channels you have not subscribed to yet. You can view a channel's content at any time, even before you subscribe.
When you receive notifications
When you subscribe, you automatically receive notifications only about the channel's highlights. To get a notification every time the channel posts content, change your notification settings.
If you unsubscribe and then subscribe again, your notification settings reset.
If a channel's audience is set to 'made for kids', no notifications are sent. The bell icon is also set to 'No notifications'. You cannot change this setting.
Unsubscribe from a channel
- Sign in to YouTube on your computer.
- Go to a video from the channel you want to unsubscribe from.
- Under the video player, click Subscribed, then click Unsubscribe.
- A confirmation message appears at the bottom of the screen.
