Packet Switching vs Circuit Switching

  • Packet Switching → No Reservation Restaurant.
  • Packet Switching can have Packet Loss (Some clients can leave if the restaurant is full)
  • Alternative. Circuit Switching → Reservation-only Restaurant
    • Routers A and B have multiple lines and use one cable for one communication.
  • Packet switching allows more users to use the network
  • Circuit switching guarantees bandwidth (Reservation-only Restaurant guarantees table seating)
