Denis Villeneuve directs the Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures adaptation of Frank Herbert's novel, starring Timothee Chalamet as Paul Atreides.
The trailer sets up the plot: House Atreides is sent by the Emperor to control the spice planet Arrakis, then gets attacked by the Harkonnens in what one character calls "an extermination".
The cast includes Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Zendaya, Jason Momoa, and Javier Bardem.
The film is set to release in theaters (2D, 3D, IMAX) and on HBO Max on October 22, 2021, with the HBO Max version available in 4K UHD for 31 days from theatrical release.
Hans Zimmer composes the score, and the film is rated PG-13 for strong violence and disturbing images.
