Meta launches Muse Wonder and Muse Wonder Full, its most capable models for personal and professional agents
- Muse Wonder and Muse Wonder Full are Meta's most capable models, with state-of-the-art results on personal and professional agent tasks, memory, and coding, according to the company.
- Muse Wonder is available now through the Meta Model API and Muse Code, while Muse Wonder Full is limited to Muse Code subscribers.
- Both models were trained at Meta's gigawatt-scale Prometheus data center, and Muse Wonder brings together Active Memory and Active Focus to track what matters to the user.
- Muse Wonder will soon power experiences in Muse, rolling out first to subscribers, and Meta plans to use it to build specialized models for Muse users.
- The work started fourteen months ago with a ground-up overhaul of Meta's AI efforts, and the company says this release builds on its earlier Muse Spark scaling approach.
Hacker News opinions
Everyone laughed when Zuck bought Scale for billions and put Alex Wang in charge of Meta Superintelligence. Now that Muse is out, he looks like a good executioner, especially since they aren't betting on a brand new product space.
Every lab is benchmaxxing at this point, and I'd expect it. Training on common benchmark data is fine if the tasks are representative, since better scores should carry over to wider work.
There's an entire section in the linked post about measuring benchmaxxing, so at least they addressed it.
Meta is using 'superintelligence' the marketing way Facebook made it up a few years ago, not the way Bostrom defined it in 2014. Zuck has been using the term for Muse for a while.
Pricing jumped a lot for a Meta model. $4/$20 per million in/out puts it above Sol and on par with Opus, which is different from their usual discounted launches.
Any idea if they'll release the weights? Low chance, I'd say.
If this model isn't benchmaxxed, I fear it's over for Anthropic and OpenAI. Models become a commodity and the price gets driven to the ground.
I don't see Facebook changing whether frontier LLMs commoditize, even with hundreds of billions spent and better talent than most.
Models are a commodity, but Anthropic and OpenAI can still find other moats.
Acquihires are paying off. They started the big AI capex over a year ago with Scale AI, so it makes sense the spending is showing up now. Total AI spending is reportedly in the high $200 billion range, though most of it is probably datacenters.
