Moonshot Releases Kimi K3.1 Pro, a 3T-Class Open-Weight Model With Cyber Data Removed
- Moonshot released Kimi K3.1 Pro, a 3T-class open-weight model with a 1-million-token context window, plus K3.1 Pro Highspeed, which runs 2-3x faster for more responsive use.
- On Terminal-Bench 4.0, K3.1 Pro scores 65.7%, ahead of GPT-6 Astra at 58.2% and just behind Claude Opus 5.5 at 66.4%.
- On BenchCAD with tools, K3.1 Pro scores 92.7%, compared with 96.2% for Claude Opus 5.5 and 95.9% for GPT-6 Astra.
- Moonshot removed cyber-related data from both mid-training and RL stages of the open weights, and says the model's offensive cyber capability stays below what its own pipeline can produce.
- The model is live on Kimi.ai, Kimi Work, Kimi Code, and the Kimi API, with full model weights promised by Nov 4.

This probably doesn't move the frontier, it just sits next to Opus 5.5. Chinese labs never agreed to any pacing anyway lol.
No AA score on their page yet, but the X post has it at 55, fourth overall.
Hallu Bench Hard drops from 23.4% on K3 to 8.3% on K3.1. That's a real jump if it holds up.
I always assume Kimi is benchmaxxed until proven otherwise. I've been let down by Kimi models before while DeepSeek, Qwen, and GLM felt better in actual use.
Their cyber note bugs me. They say they could do more but chose not to. Cutting cyber data from the open weights is a cop out, honestly.
I think the cyber restriction is the sane call. One person with resources and a model that's good at offense is a real problem, and the US labs do the same thing.
Kimi is basically the Anthropic of China, so this fits. Restricting cyber also gives them cover when a model fails.
The more interesting question is how far you can push the open weights with RL after release, since the data got removed but the RL setup is still there.
Benchmark table is broken in Firefox btw, so check it in another browser.
