DeepSeek V4.1 Flash 1017 (Max) scores 45 on Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index at $0.26 per task
- DeepSeek V4.1 Flash 1017 (Max) scores 45 on the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index, ranking #2 of 121 models in its class (median 19), and runs at 227.1 output tokens per second.
- Cost per Intelligence Index task is $0.26, with input at $0.30 and output at $1.20 per 1M tokens, but the model generated 210M tokens on the index against a median of 140M, which makes it very verbose.
- The model has 552B total parameters with 16B active per token, an MIT license, a 1M token context window, and text and image input.
- Commenters found the max reasoning setting burns far more tokens than lower settings, and GPT 6.1 Sol (medium) came in cheaper per task at $0.21 versus $0.26, while provider prices for this checkpoint vary widely.
Hacker News opinions
Really wild that this is a 536B+16B model and lands close to MiMo v2.6 Pro, which is 978B+42B. Half the size and it comes pretty close. I like the speed too, but the verbosity needs fixing. Wonder if fine-tuning could make it token-efficient.
High tps plus a braindead model is a fun thing to watch. Give it browser access and it speedruns into a Cloudflare bot detection freakout in minutes.
Why is anyone surprised? It activates 12B parameters, so it should be faster than one activating 16B, which should be faster than one at 42B. Seems like the expected result.
GPT 6.1 Sol (medium) is cheaper per task ($0.21 vs $0.26) and faster (2.9 vs 4.9 minutes). I wish AA would post other reasoning effort results for DeepSeek, since max effort takes forever for a small uplift.
AA open model prices are hand wavy. One DeepInfra check gave $0.08 where AA claims $0.10, and OpenRouter providers range from $0.15 to $1.20 for this checkpoint. Peak and off-peak pricing makes it worse.
For my tests on 0910 and the 0731 flash, max used almost twice the tokens of high for little to no gain. Low reasoning at 25/100 seems to be the sweet spot for me.
Can I run this on 128GB RAM and a 2080 Ti? Extremely low TPS is fine if it can bake overnight. Maybe I'm out of touch, but it doesn't seem possible yet.
Someone on a Mac Studio with 128GB runs DwarfStar DeepSeek V4 Flash and says it's decent. Streaming weights from SSD works for 4.1 too, but at lower TPS.
Mimo 2.6 Pro scores 46 and costs half as much, though throughput is lower. Not sure why nobody made a fuss about it.
Been my daily model for a month now. I run it on fast local infra at 200+ tok/s and it's been solid for mid-level work.
