Alibaba releases Wan3.0, a 30-second video model that takes documents and web pages as inputs
Wan3.0 generates videos up to 30 seconds long from documents, spreadsheets, slides, and web pages, according to Alibaba Cloud's WeChat post.
The 30-second limit doubles Wan2.7-Video's 15-second maximum; Alibaba also added prompt-based duration recommendations and a tool to extend a narrative timeline.
Alibaba says Wan3.0 maintains visual continuity across longer clips and has been used during its public beta, which opened August 6, for short dramas, films, advertising, tourism promotion, and music videos.
Alibaba launched Wan3.0 one day after pricing a HK$80 billion share placement, about $10.2 billion, and said all net proceeds will fund chips, infrastructure, and model development and deployment.
The company reported about 67.7 billion yuan in quarterly capital expenditure and a year-on-year net-profit decline of roughly 75%, while Hong Kong-listed shares fell after the placement.
