Dune: Part Three IMAX Ticket Drop Crashes AMC and Fandango as Fans Queue for December Shows
AMC and Fandango users reported crashes and internal-server errors on Aug. 18 while trying to buy early IMAX 70mm tickets for "Dune: Part Three" screenings in December.
The Aug. 18 drop opened more first-week Dune Insider Screenings in IMAX and IMAX 70mm after IMAX said its earlier limited ticket release had drawn heavy demand.
Several buyers said they waited more than an hour, while one X user posted a line outside an AMC theater in New York where fans attempted to purchase tickets in person.
Some early Dune: Part Three IMAX 70mm tickets appeared on eBay for resale prices of up to $1,000; AMC and Fandango had not responded to NBC News' requests for comment.
Denis Villeneuve's film opens Dec. 18 and takes place 17 years after the previous installment, with Timothee Chalamet's Paul Atreides ruling the galaxy while politically married to Florence Pugh's Princess Irulan.
