Dune: Part Three opens in North American theaters and IMAX on December 18, 2026, with the international rollout starting December 16; Warner Bros. distributes worldwide and Legendary East handles China.
IMAX locked the film into an exclusive three-week holiday run, which leaves Avengers: Doomsday, opening the same day, shut out of the format entirely; Dune Insider screenings start December 14 in IMAX 70mm only.
The August 18 presale wave for IMAX 70mm, Dolby Cinema and other premium formats crashed AMC's app and pushed Fandango's queue past an hour, and AMC CEO Adam Aron apologized after traffic ran roughly triple the chain's Spider-Man: Brand New Day launch, with only premium formats on sale.
The IMAX 70mm footprint is 36 locations worldwide (25 in the United States, nine in Canada, one each in the U.K. and Australia); earlier waves sold out all 19 locations covered in April 2026, with resale listings near $1,000 and eBay seats at $200 within hours.
The film adapts Dune Messiah, set nearly two decades after Paul Atreides takes the Imperium, and casts newcomers Nakoa-Wolf Momoa and Ida Brooke as twins Leto II and Ghanima from Children of Dune; Villeneuve directs from a screenplay he co-wrote with Brian K. Vaughan, and Robert Pattinson plays Scytale.
