Dune: Part Three trailer debuts at IMAX fan event, with footage from Abu Dhabi's Liwa desert
- Denis Villeneuve and Timothee Chalamet unveiled a new trailer for Dune: Part Three at an IMAX fan event on Wednesday, their most extensive look yet at the film, which also features Abu Dhabi's Liwa desert.
- The film is set 17 years after the events of Dune: Part Two and adapts Frank Herbert's Dune Messiah, examining the consequences of Paul Atreides's reign as emperor.
- Chalamet said he hopes Paul is 'more nuanced' than the trailer suggests, and that Chani feels betrayal toward Paul as their relationship has crumbled.
- Villeneuve originally planned to step away from the franchise after Part Two, but returned after recurring images pushed him to write Part Three right away instead of years later.
- Villeneuve said the desert is a character in all three films, and the Liwa desert shoot was part of the production in Abu Dhabi.
