Funcom lays off staff and narrows its focus to Dune: Awakening and Conan Exiles
- Funcom has begun a restructuring that will reduce its staff by an unknown number as it focuses solely on live operations for Dune: Awakening and Conan Exiles.
- CEO Rui Casais, who led the studio for 11 years through its 2020 Tencent acquisition, will leave at the end of the year and be succeeded by Chief Product Officer Scott Junior, who was Executive Producer on Dune: Awakening.
- Dune: Awakening was the biggest project Funcom has undertaken, and this round follows the October 2025 layoffs that came after the game's launch.
- As part of the earlier cuts, Funcom closed Swedish studio The Outsiders, the developer of Metal: Hellsinger that it acquired in 2021.
