Villeneuve Says Dune Fatigue Led Him to Direct the Next James Bond Film
- Denis Villeneuve said he took the next James Bond film because he is tired of Dune and needs a "very powerful rocket" to pull him away from Arrakis once Dune: Part Three is finished.
- Dune: Part Three adapts Frank Herbert's Dune Messiah, chronicles Paul Atreides' fall to tyrant, and opens on Dec. 18, 2026.
- Villeneuve has not directed a film outside the Dune franchise since Part One came out in 2021, and Dune: Part Two hit theaters in 2024.
- Zendaya told Empire that Chani feels "a deep pain" and "a deep betrayal" as Paul becomes unrecognizable from the man she fell in love with.
- Villeneuve was revealed in June 2025 as the director of the next 007 film, and no official casting has been announced, though Gary Oldman has claimed the next Bond is already picked.
