Dune: Part Three and Avengers: Doomsday share a December 18, 2026 release date as Dune's early IMAX pre-sales sell out in minutes
- Denis Villeneuve's Dune: Part Three and Marvel's Avengers: Doomsday are both set to open in theaters on December 18, 2026, and neither studio has moved its date despite the overlap.
- Dune opened IMAX ticket pre-sales roughly eight months before release, where ticket sales normally start one or two months out, and the tickets sold out within minutes.
- The early IMAX sales locked in sold-out premium screens at prime North American locations, screens the article says Avengers can no longer claim.
- Disney is countering by pushing Doomsday through other premium formats including D-Box, 4DX, and Dolby rather than shifting its release date.
