Dune: Part Three Private Screenings Draw "Very Positive" Early Reaction as Oscar Talk Builds
- Warner Bros. held another round of private screenings for Dune: Part Three this week, and Variety columnist Clayton Davis described the early reaction as "very positive" while noting that detailed reviews are not yet being published.
- Insider Jeff Sneider says the Best Picture race could come down to two films: Christopher Nolan's Odyssey and Denis Villeneuve's Dune: Part Three.
- Villeneuve has never been nominated for directing a Dune film. Both earlier parts were nominated for Best Picture, and his only directing nomination was for Arrival in 2017, which lost to Damien Chazelle for La La Land.
- Arrival was nominated for eight Oscars and won one, Best Sound Editing for Sylvain Bellemare.
- Dune: Part Three opens worldwide on December 18.
