Villeneuve and Chalamet unveil Dune: Part Three trailer, shot in Abu Dhabi's Liwa desert
- Denis Villeneuve and Timothee Chalamet unveiled the trailer for Dune: Part Three at an IMAX fan event, with the film shot partly in Abu Dhabi's Liwa desert.
- The installment adapts Frank Herbert's Dune Messiah, set 17 years after Part Two, and follows the consequences of Paul Atreides' reign as emperor.
- Chalamet resisted reading Paul as a villain, saying Herbert wrote Messiah to warn about blindly following leaders, and credited Villeneuve with weaving in storylines that were not explicit in the book while praising Zendaya's performance.
- Villeneuve had planned to leave the franchise after Part Two but returned immediately, saying he kept waking at night with images and felt the audience's appetite during the Part Two tour, so he wrote the film right away.
- The fan Q&A linked theaters in Los Angeles, Dallas, London, Berlin, Toronto and Abu Dhabi, and Villeneuve said the desert is a character in all three films and the production did not compromise on it.
