Dune: Part Three Debuts 7-Minute Opening Scene at CinemaCon, Sets Dec. 18, 2026 Release
- Warner Bros. and Legendary closed their CinemaCon presentation in Las Vegas with a 7-minute clip of Dune: Part Three's opening scene, introduced on stage by Denis Villeneuve, Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya and Jason Momoa.
- The film picks up 17 years after Part Two, with Chalamet's Paul Atreides now Padishah Emperor, married to Florence Pugh's Princess Irulan for political reasons, and his followers waging a jihad in his name; Chalamet said Paul has become "his worst vision."
- Villeneuve described the first film as meditative, the second as a war movie, and Part Three as a thriller: more action-packed, faster paced and more emotional, made because he did not want to walk in his own footsteps.
- Cast returns include Rebecca Ferguson, Charlotte Rampling and Javier Bardem, with Robert Pattinson joining as villain Scytale, Momoa returning as a ghola, and Anya Taylor-Joy given substantially more to do.
- Dune: Part Three opens in theaters on Dec. 18, 2026; Villeneuve, who called the decade-long production a small family, moves next to a James Bond film.
