'Dune: Part Two' pushed to March 15, 2024 as SAG-AFTRA strike delays Warner Bros. release
- Warner Bros. moved Dune: Part Two from its 2023 slot to March 15, 2024, a studio publicist confirmed to ABC News, citing the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike.
- The date change makes the sequel ineligible for the upcoming Academy Awards, after the 2021 first film earned 10 Oscar nominations and won six, among them best original score, best sound, best film editing, best cinematography, best production design and best visual effects.
- Denis Villeneuve returns as director, with Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides and Zendaya as Chani; returning cast includes Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Dave Bautista, Stellan Skarsgård, Charlotte Rampling and Javier Bardem.
- New to the cast are Christopher Walken, Florence Pugh, Austin Butler and Léa Seydoux, introduced in the second of two trailers released for the film.
- The first trailer showed Paul riding a giant sandworm and kissing Chani; the second focused on the newly added characters.
