Denis Villeneuve Says He Is Writing Dune: Messiah and Will Shoot Sooner Than Expected
- Denis Villeneuve says he is in the writing zone on Dune: Messiah, and that after a break that did not suit him he will go back behind the camera "faster than I think".
- He avoids the name Dune: Part Three: Part One and Part Two are "for me like one entity", while the third film is the same world with new circumstances, set about 12 years after the end of Part Two.
- The third film will finish the Paul Atreides arc and end Villeneuve's association with the Dune universe, even though Frank Herbert wrote four more Dune sequels after Messiah.
- Returning cast named for the third film: Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya as Chani, Florence Pugh and Anya Taylor-Joy, plus "more worms".
- Pressed on a start date, Villeneuve murmurs "2026" then says these movies take a lot of time and it is best not to say out loud when he might shoot.
