HBO Renews 'Dune: Prophecy' for Season 2 Days Before Its Season 1 Finale

HBO renewed Dune: Prophecy for Season 2, announcing the pickup at a virtual press conference on Thursday, Dec. 19, 2024, days before the Season 1 finale aired on Sunday, Dec. 22.
The prequel is set more than 10,000 years before Denis Villeneuve's Dune films and follows the origins of the Bene Gesserit, the secretive order that shapes Arrakis politics from behind the scenes.
The series draws on the novel Sisterhood of Dune by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson, with Emily Watson as Valya Harkonnen and Olivia Williams as Tula Harkonnen, ancestors of the House Harkonnen that betrays Paul Atreides.
Mark Strong plays Emperor Javicco Corrino and Sarah-Sofie Boussnina plays his daughter Princess Ynez. Variety's Ethan Shanfeld reported the renewal.
