HBO renews Dune: Prophecy for season 2 ahead of its December 22 finale
- HBO renewed Dune: Prophecy for a second season just days before the first season finale, which debuted on December 22.
- The series, produced by HBO with Legendary Television, is set 10,000 years before Paul Atreides and follows two Harkonnen sisters who establish the sect that becomes the Bene Gesserit.
- Showrunner and executive producer Alison Schapker returns to lead season 2; Sarah Aubrey (Head of Max Original Programming) and Legendary Television president Jason Clodfelter both gave statements about continuing the franchise.
- The cast includes Emily Watson as Valya Harkonnen, Olivia Williams as Tula Harkonnen, Travis Fimmel as Desmond Hart, Mark Strong as Emperor Javicco Corrino, and Jodhi May as Empress Natalya, among others.
- JoBlo's own review by Alex Maidy called the show well-made with high production values but said it feels like a replica of Game of Thrones in outer space, too reliant on characters talking to each other.
